Otokar, one of Turkey's leading automotive industry companies, was awarded the "Environment" award in the Large Scale Business Category, Automotive Sector at the KSO Şahabettin Bilgisu Environmental Awards organized by Kocaeli Chamber of Industry.
Otokar, one of the Koç Community companies, was awarded another award for its business and sustainability efforts. The company, which implemented pioneering works by leveraging the driving force of technology and digitalization to improve the living standards of future generations with its intellectual rights 100 percent own, efficient, environmentally friendly, and innovative products, was awarded the Environmental Award in the Automotive Sector in the Large Scale Business Category at the KSO Şahabettin Bilgisu Environmental Awards organized by Kocaeli Chamber of Industry.
Otokar's environmental sustainability steps are not slowing down Otokar, which has managed to be a pioneer in its sector with environmentally friendly applications in business and production strategies with its work and production activities in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, has been awarded the 6th list in the BIST Sustainability Index, which includes companies traded in Borsa İstanbul with high corporate sustainability performances.
In 2020, Otokar recycled 150.500 m3 of wastewater and brought it back to production with its stable efforts to improve sustainability performance and the applications which it implemented. The company achieved 1,526 GJ of energy savings and 300 tons of CO2 reductions in greenhouse gas emissions through its energy efficiency efforts. The ceremony, which was held for the 27th time this year with the theme of "Clean Environment, Strong Industry", was held with the participation of Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey, Kocaeli Metropolitan Mayor Tahir Büyükakın, Kocaeli Chamber of Industry President Ayhan Zeytinoğlu, Deputy Governor Dursun Balaban, Kocaeli Chamber of Commerce President Necmi Bulut and business world. Otokar's award was received by Mesut Akdağ, Otokar Production and Supply Group Director from TOBB President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu.
